DOMINO’S SUPPORTS SCHOOLS’ FUND RAISING DRIVE
Kuala Lumpur, Wednesday (April 21, 2004):
Schools that are organizing fund raising campaigns now stand a chance to get more than what they raise. Leading pizza delivery company, Domino’s, will double the funds collected as one of the initiatives under its “Domino’s Supports Schools” programme.
The gesture will be in the form of pizzas and the maximum value will be up to RM2,000 to schools that are participating in Domino’s school programme.
This benefit is one of numerous which primary and secondary schools can get to enjoy under the programme tailored at enhancing students’ learning skills, motivating their academic performance, providing career guidance and supporting schools’ various activities.
According to Allan Ang, General Manager of Dommal Food Services Sdn Bhd, matching the funds collected with pizza giveaways serves two purposes.
“We hope that what we are doing will motivate schools in their fund raising drive and secondly, the schools can use the pizzas to raise more funds or give them away to needy students.
“Though we are leaving it up to the schools to decide what they wish to do with the pizzas, we hope that some of them will use this as an opportunity to provide pizza meals to poor students,” he said.
Allan added that there is also an incentive for the class that collects the highest fund. Domino’s will reward each student in the class with the Domino’s Millennium Gold Card irrespective of the amount raised.
Domino’s which has been supporting schools for the last six years, introduced its “Domino’s Supports Schools” programme in 2002 for schools in Klang Valley, Johor Bharu and Penang where Domino’s has its stores. Todate, some 53 schools have signed up as participants for two years from 2004 to 2005.
As part of its “Domino’s Supports Schools” programme, the company will also be organising educational seminars by well-known speaker and master trainer, Lawrence Walter Ng, for students in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bharu in the 3rd quarter of this year.
