Domino's hosts 1Malaysia Open House for Chinese New Year Celebrations

PORT DICKSON, 31 January, 2012 – We welcomed fortune, good health and prosperity at our very first Chinese New Year open house celebration at Domino’s outlet in Port Dickson Waterfront together with more than 70 children and caretakers recently on 31 January.

In the true spirit of 1Malaysia, we invited the children of Yayasan Anak-Anak Yatim Islam Daerah Port Dickson and Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Yatim & Miskin Wawasan Port Dickson (formerly known as New Life Care Centre) to share the joys of the Chinese New Year celebrations. The homes currently care for 30 and 43 orphans respectively.

To accommodate the large number of guests, the event was held at a spacious area in front of the Domino’s Port Dickson outlet with a view of the ocean. Store Managers from as far as Seremban, Nilai and Senawang came to PD to help out in the event and make the celebration a success. Team Uthaya Kumar did a good job in hosting the event.

The children were in for a treat as we served them pizzas and scrumptious desserts. The main entertainment for the evening was the exciting Lion Dance performance to summon good fortune for the new Lunar Year. The children were also thrilled to interact with the two golden lions who handed out sweets to the kids.

A teacher from Yayasan Anak-Anak Yatim Islam Daerah said, “We were very pleased to celebrate this festive event with Domino’s and to see the children enjoying themselves with the performance and pizza party. This is the first time some of the kids have seen a Lion Dance and they were amazed by it. The celebration also gave them the opportunity to have fun and mix with children from another home.”

Our Chinese New Year celebrations are truly special this year, as we have organized a Chinese New Year open house in conjunction with our first outlet in Port Dickson and our 76th store nationwide. By welcoming charitable homes from all races, religion and backgrounds, we celebrate our nation’s diversity and hope this will cultivate a harmonious relationship among the kids while bringing joy and cheerfulness for this auspicious occasion.

This is also in line with our corporate social responsibility efforts to reach out to the local communities in which we operate, particularly during festive periods to make the season a little brighter. To date, we have brought joy to the faces of more than 50 homes by donating pizza for all types of festive celebrations.
